At this time, all information pertains to Derricks of British origins, particularly for families from Somerset (which is generally appropriate since, in Britain, it is known to be a Somerset name). Information is also given on Derricks who emigrated to other parts of England and to other countries.
I'm aware that there is a substantial Derrick population in the United States which is of German descent rather than British. At this time, I have little information on-line for such people. My name is Mike Attfield. My mother was Rita Derrick, from a village just south of Bath in north Somerset. I believe that her ancestors were from Ubley in Somerset.
Although I started these pages with my own information, and have typed every bit of it into Family Tree Maker, at this time probably most of it comes from other individuals. Some have sent me masses of 1881 and other census material. Others have supplied family trees or other information. My thanks to all who have sent me this information and been kind enough to let me disseminate it through the web. These unselfish efforts help us all at one time or another. And, of course, I shouldn’t forget Geraldine and Gloria who helped me order films and microfiche at our local LDS library.
I have tried to transcribe that information as received, and as accurately as possible into my database. The files you see here come directly from that database via MS ACCESS. I hope that this information will be useful to those searching for Derricks.
