Pastor Farmer, a native of W.Va., grew up in Welch. He did his undergraduate work at both
Virginia Tech and Concord College in southern W.Va., graduating from Concord with a Psychology degree in 1983.
He immediately began ministry with the Coalition for Christian Outreach, for ten years serving on college campuses
in W.Va. While on the CCO staff, he also served for eight years as Associate Minister for Campus Ministry at the
First Baptist Church, Morgantown, W.Va., home of West Virginia University. While at First Baptist, he and his wife,
Kimberly, were married and blessed with their only child, Joshua. He holds two Master's Degrees (Counseling Psychology
from West Virginia University and a Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary). He is presently in
the final stages of his doctoral work at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He expects to complete his degree in
2005.
In 1993, Rev. Farmer received his first call to pastoral ministry from the Goshen Baptist Church, Morgantown, W.Va.
He served the Goshen congregation for seven-and-a-half years. In the spring of 2001, Pastor Farmer began a three-year
pastorate at the First Baptist Church, Weston, W.Va. In March of 2004, he became the pastor of the First Baptist
Church of Fairmont. Rev. Farmer is a professional counselor (LPC). He has work for the Morgantown Pastoral Counseling
Center and in private practice. Throughout his years in ministry, he has held several workshops on counseling related
topics.
Kimberly, his wife of almost eighteen years, has taught school in W.Va. public schools since1985. She is presently
enjoying early retirement and her role as a pastor's wife. Joshua, age thirteen, is in the seventh grade at Miller
Jr. High. Joshua enjoys baseball and basketball, and is quickly becoming a master video game player. Kim and Joshua
are both deeply involved in the ministries of this church.
