The Marion County Technical Center was opened in 1979. Our student
body includes enrollees from North
Marion High School, East
Fairmont High School,
Fairmont Senior
High School, Hundred High School, and the adult community. The
study areas are: Agricultural Education,
Marketing/Entrepreneurship
(DCT), Pro Start/Food Management, Business
Education, Trade and Industrial
Education, Health Science Technology,
Applied
Academics, Special Education
and Technology Education.
Our facility has just undergone substantial reconstruction, thanks to the citizens of Marion County who passed a 3.2 million dollar bond. After four years of working under adverse circumstances, we are now working at full capacity and our facility is fully operational and open to all citizens of all ages in Marion County and surrounding counties.
We continue to develop Technical Education through expanding and diversifying programs and curriculum to meet the needs of society and provide skills for employability. In 1997, we added ASE Certification to our Automotive Technology Program. ASE - Automotive Service Excellence - is recognized throughout the United States. We also offer Civil Service Testing, GED Preparation, West Virginia Certification Examination for Nursing Assistants, National Restaurant Association Certification, MOUS Training, and National Center for Costruction Education and Research Certification. These are ways that we have continued our commitment to provide the employment community with graduates who are skilled at the highest level.
Our 13th Year Secretarial Program offers an avenue for adults wishing to obtain professional skills beyond high school which could enhance their entry into the business world.
Any member of the Technical Team will be happy to provide anyone with specific information on programs of study. For additional information contact Jim Casto, Lead Teacher, or Karen Cervo, counselor, at (304)986-3590. Thank you for visiting our Web site.
