CLUBS AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The National Vocational-Technical Honor Society:  An organization to honor students enrolled in occupational, vocational and technical programs that exhibit outstanding qualities in the areas of service, leadership, honesty, and academic achievement.  For membership ones must be enrolled in his/her third hour of a vocational-technical program, have a "B" average in vocational-technical classes, have no semester grade lower that a "C" in any class, maintained good attendence, and received the recommendation of a MCTC teacher.

SKILLS/USA-VICA: This national organization serves trade, industrial, technical, and health students with leadership, citizenship, and character development programs and activities.

FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA (FBLA):  A national youth organization for all students currently enrolled in at least one business course in high school.  This organization operates as an integral part of the school business program under the guidance of the business instructors.

STUDENT COUNCIL:  A formal organization of student representatives from all the program areas at the Marion County Technical Center which serves to communicate ideas and suggestions to the faculty and members of the Technical Assistance Team as to the needs of the Tech Center, its students, and the various programs.  In addition, the members serve in a leadership capacity at school events held throughout the school year.

HEALTH OCCUPATIONS STUDENTS OF AMERICA (HOSA):  A national organization of students enrolled in the health science programs with leadership, citizenship, and character development programs and activities.

PEER MEDIATORS:  A violence prevention program whereby students learn and practice leadership skills, communication skills, and problem solving techniques to aid their peers who might be experiencing conflict with another student or faculty member.

TECH PRIDE PAGE STAFF:  Students selected to be on staff enroll in the Media Communications class and are responsible for the collection of information about school events and news, taking pictures, and writing the articles to be used on the monthly Tech Pride Page in the Times-West Virginian newspaper.

FAMILY, CAREER, AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA (FCCLA):  A national organization for all students currently enrolled in the Food Management/Pro-Start program which fosters leadership, dependability, and other employable qualities.

FFAFFA is a national organization of students studying agricultural education in the public schools.  FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential  for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.  Nationally, there are over 450,000 FFA members with 109 members in the local Marion County FFA Chapter.  FFA membership offers over  two million dollars in college scholarships, an opportunity to participate in dozens of national, state, and local events, and to travel internationally.  Students may become members of the FFA by being enrolled in an agricultural education class and paying state and national dues. Students may remain members of the FFA until they are 21 or three years after graduation.
