Golden Horseshoes
  • This is a annual competition testing eighth grade WV students’ knowledge in state history, government, culture and geography. Ten percent of students that take the exam advance to ceremony recognition at the State Capitol Complex in May.

Social Studies Fair
  • The purpose of this fair is to encourage independent research in the field of the student’s choice; including anthropology, economics, government and world studies.  The fair is open to grades 5-8 and is conducted in even numbered years and the winners advance to county and then on to state fair competitions.
