25 Years Proud
North Marion High School opened the doors to future greatness in the fall of 1979 as the communities of the northern section of Marion County joined forces to build the home of the Huskies.
And build they did. In just the second year of existence, the football team played in the state championship. A victory solidified the melting of the locals into a cohesive unit and enabled many successes to follow. The building process continued literally as the campus was transformed into a show case thanks to the hard work by a group calling themselves the "Wood Cutters" The addition of a facility building, football stadium, tennis courts, baseball diamond, and practice field culminated their efforts. Later a softball field was added and lights were erected for night baseball. Even to this day, the improvement to the grounds of North Marion High School is a top priority for all associated with the Huskies.
Although a rural area know for its hard nosed athletic teams, the growth was not limited to the physical alone. North Marion perched atop the state for several years with the highest percent of graduating seniors continuing their work in post-secondary education.
